It seems like just yesterday you were arriving on campus and now — we’re already looking ahead to summer and graduation. You’ve accomplished a lot with your time on campus and you should be proud of it all, both inside and outside the classroom.
For returning students, we’re back with our monthly emails from our experts at the
Carruth Center to connect with you and focus on mental health.
For new students — welcome! You’ll see this email monthly from our Carruth Center
for Counseling and Psychological Services. Your well-being is the most important
thing here at WVU, and we hope these emails will meet you where you are in your
life or semester. This is part of our commitment at WVU to keep you safe, share
our resources and show you that you are loved and valued.
It seems that just yesterday you were arriving on campus and now, here we are looking
ahead to summer and graduation. You should be so proud of all the things you accomplished
this year, both inside and outside of the classroom.
As the semester wraps up, so do our monthly emails — but don’t worry! We will resume
them in September. Of course, if you’re graduating – congratulations! We hope you
have enjoyed your WVU journey and hope you stay in touch. And remember, “Once a
Mountaineer, Always a Mountaineer.”
The sight of green trees and flowers is a sign that the end of the semester is drawing
near. With only a few more weeks ahead, you likely have a lot on your mind and
are starting to make your summer plans. It's good to start preparing now to avoid
last-minute stress.
Are you interested in completing an internship for your degree? Finding summer employment?
Taking classes to get ahead? Enjoying springtime with friends and family? Or maybe
a mix of everything?
You made it to midterms and spring break! This is a good time to reflect on the hard
work you've put in so far and celebrate your successes. Take advantage of this
upcoming downtime and do activities that bring you joy, or start to look ahead
to the rest of the semester–it's up to you!
This month we'll cover some helpful tips for midterms and provide some reminders
to have a safe, fun, and rejuvenating break.
The weather is cold, it’s dark and we’re all eagerly waiting for spring. February
can also be an exciting month that brings opportunities to meet new people, grow
relationships you already have and practice self-care. This month we’ll talk about
combating those winter blues and how to maintain healthy relationships!
The "winter blues" is often a term used during winter when the days are shorter and
the weather is snowy. At times, some people might feel sad, low, or even depressed
during this time of the year. If this sounds like you may experience this, keep
a few of these helpful tips in mind:
As you work your way toward the end of the semester, take some time to reflect on
the past few months and appreciate all the work you have put in, both professionally
and personally. It may be beneficial to make pockets of time for self-care as you
wrap things up!
Self-care is taking care of yourself so that you can be healthy, do your job to the
best of your ability and be well. Taking care of yourself ensures that you can
help and care for others as needed and do all the things you need and want to accomplish
in a day.
