Master's Training

A week before classes start, a mandatory orientation is scheduled to train practicum counselors in crisis management, triage assessment, and other training-related topics including policies and procedures of the center.

Training in various clinical issues will be ongoing throughout the placement. These may include, but not limited to, brief therapy models, motivational interviewing, ethics, assessing and treating clinical presentations of college students, alcohol and drug assessments, making appropriate referrals, treatment plans, termination, consultation, and psychiatric referrals. Training in diversity/multicultural issues will be integrated in all parts of the training.
