Therapeutic Orientation
I am a strengths-based cognitive behavioralist. I tend to focus on the strengths that people bring into the therapeutic space and how the clinician and client can collaboratively work together with those strengths to foster meaningful change.
Areas of Clinical Interest
I am interested in working with individuals presenting with various concerns including depression, anxiety, phobias, trauma, suicidality, and sleep concerns. I’m passionate about issues of social justice and working with individuals who identify with Appalachian culture. I’ve also had experience working with individuals who present with religion and spirituality concerns and severe mental illness.
Bio
I was born and raised in the geographic and cultural hotspot of the United States known as “Appalachia”. I attended Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky for my undergraduate and graduate studies. Currently, I am working as a predoctoral intern here at the Carruth Center in accordance with obtaining my doctoral degree of clinical psychology.
I’ve worked in an array of settings with a diverse group of presenting concerns and individuals. Some of these include university clinics, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, and forensic-based private practice. I have experience in individual as well as group therapy, and I have experience in administering assessments for the purposes of the diagnostic clarification of learning disorders, autism spectrum disorder, personality disorders, and competency to stand trial.
Hobbies
I enjoy being in nature, reading, writing, playing music, cooking, meeting new people, and engaging in activities all throughout the community.
