Bio: Originally from Pittsburgh, Pa, I received both my undergraduate and graduate degrees from West Virginia University. While studying to get my Masters degree in Social Work, I was working full time at an in-patient alcohol and other drug rehabilitation center for adolescents. It was during this time that I developed a passion for working with individuals with alcohol and other drug concerns and addiction. During my 20 years of experience at WVU, what I have enjoyed the most is aiding students in discovering how their substance use has impacted their overall well-being. I work with students who may be self- referred, mandated by the legal system, or sanctioned by the university conduct process. I strive to provide students with more positive coping strategies to empower them to make healthier choices so they can experience success while here at WVU.
I serve as a Program Coordinator/Counselor for the Student Assistance Program within Carruth where I have developed all alcohol and other drug treatment/program requirements for students who have experienced a related infraction. I oversee administrative responsibilities for SAP, coordinate the psychoeducational groups, and supervise Masters Trainees. I have taught several community health promotion courses at WVU and serve on numerous committees throughout the University, Morgantown community, and the state of WV.
