Bio:  Born in Waukesha, Wisconsin on March 4, 1960, I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1982 and then my Masters and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh in 1989 and 1994, respectively.

I first came to West Virginia in 1991 where I completed both a Pre-doctoral Clinical Psychology Internship and subsequent Behavioral Medicine Fellowship at the Department of Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry, West Virginia University School of Medicine before joining their faculty as an Assistant Professor from 1994-2000.

Hoping to be of greater value to the underserved community in which I and my family lived, I left West Virginia University to establish a private practice in Kingwood, West Virginia – Stillwater Christian Counseling, PLLC  – providing faith-based counseling to Preston county and the adjoining region from 2000-2008.  I then returned to West Virginia University in 2008 to serve as Clinical Director of the Carruth Center for Counseling and Psychological Services and, with the advent of WELLWVU in 2009, was named interim director of the renamed Center before assuming my present role as Director in 2010.
