Regarding Current Events
The Carruth Center stands with the Black and African-American community and those speaking out against racism and race based violence in our country. The current tragedies and losses of life reflect our country’s history of disregard for Black lives and systemic injustice that we condemn and are dedicated to addressing. As a mental health service, the Carruth Center is committed to affirming and providing care for all of our students. If you would like to connect with a counselor, we invite you to contact us at 304-293-4431.
These events are traumatic and in the aftermath of experiencing or witnessing such trauma, it is normal to experience a range of emotions including shock, fear, sadness, anger, helplessness, or guilt. Again, we are dedicated to affirming and providing care for all of our students who have been directly or vicariously impacted by trauma.
We strive to create a safe, diverse and inclusive environment, as well as a confidential space where students may seek support and process their reactions. Please note that your reactions are valid, and they matter to us. If you would like to connect with a counselor, we are here for you! We also have an after-hours counselor available by phone 304-293-4431 if you have an emergency after 5:00 pm or on the weekends.
