The Carruth Center is open, but most of our clinicians are working remotely. We are only seeing psychological and psychiatric emergencies in person at this time. For information about counseling options available to students located in West Virginia as well as students currently outside of the state, please see our COVID-19 updates page.

My primary theoretical orientation is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I utilize CBT through a multi-cultural lens by recognizing the unique experiences that each individual brings into the counseling sessions.

Anxiety and related disorders, substance use, exposure therapy

I grew up in rural Virginia before attending the University of Virginia for my undergraduate degree. After graduating I had a variety of jobs that included working at a moving company (I got to move John Grisham once!), working in community mental health, working as an options trader on Wall Street, and working at an in-patient mental health facility. Eventually I returned to school for my Master's degree here at WVU at age 32. I have been either a trainee or staff counselor at the Carruth Center since the fall of 2018, and look forward to continuing to make a difference in our students' lives.
